HOMAJ COOKBOOK: How to Make Ishapa Soup

INGREDIENTS FOR ISHAPA SOUP(ROSELLE FLOWER)

  • Roselle flower(green)
  • Pepper & tomatoes
  • Onions
  • Palm oil
  • Salt
  • Seasoning
  • Beef
  • Stock fish
  • Cowskin (ponmo)
  • Crayfish
  • Melon (egusi)
  • Locust beans

STEPS

  1. Soak roselle flower with wood ashes(eeru) a day before preparation, rinse well before preparation.
  2. Wash the meat and cowskin,then rinse the crayfish.
  3. Boil the meat.
  4. Cut cowskin into small pieces.
  5. Rinse melon and grind.
  6. Rinse pepper and onions and grind.
  7. Soak stockfish in hot water,leave for few minutes ,then pour out the water and rinse.
  8. Put saucepan on fire.
  9. Pour little palm oil,allow to simmer,then fry the grinded melon,stir well,remove the melon from the saucepan after few minutes.
  10. Add little palm oil to the one on fire,allow to simmer,slice onions and fry in the palm oil.
  11. Pour grinded pepper inside the saucepan,cover the pot and allow to cook for few minutes.
  12. Add boiled meat,stockfish, cowskin and crayfish.
  13. Allow to cook,add the fried melon and roselle flower and allow to cook.
